The home page of this website will always tell you if a stream is planned. (Sometimes there may not be, for example if Groot is on holiday). There are other ways to be kept up to date as well; watchalongs are also announced on our Discord Server, and you can also sign up to our email list to get updates.

Many watchalongs have not been hosted on YouTube, because of their copyright rules, so some are shown on Twitch. To make sure you don't miss any, join our Discord server, and/or subscribe for emails from this website, to know when the next one is.

Because of YouTube's copyright rules, some videos can't be uploaded there. But that doesn't matter! Some of the watchalong videos are hosted elsewhere, but you can watch every single video on this website!

Although you don't have to vote, we would strongly encourage you to, as it makes the result more valid. Voting is quick and easy, through a web link. To prevent spamming, the voting link is different for each watchalong. Each link is published to all members on our Discord Server, and also appears on this website, but only to registered voters who are logged in. We'd recommend you join our Discord Server, preferably before the watchalong starts so you are ready. There are more questions about voting below.

Discord is a free website and mobile application that is a next-generation discussion forum. You can choose to view the "channels" on our "server", and contribute; or you can simply just use it to get the voting links and nothing else. Our community has grown so much stronger by interacting this way, but we recognise that's not for everyone.

We watched the semi-finals for this year, we voted, and the 20 songs we chose as qualifiers went to the final. Therefore the line-up is different.

We watched the previous year's Eurovision final, and we chose a different winner from real-life. This then changed the lineup for this semi-final, by swapping the real-life host entry with our host entry in the final.

"Groot" is a YouTuber in Sweden with a love of Eurovision. He prefers not to reveal his personal details or exact location, but we know that he is a school teacher, is also a musician and passionate about music production. His YouTube channel had been running for many years before he started the watchalongs. Copyright rules associated with YouTube have pushed the watchalongs from 2004 onwards onto Twitch.

Darren lives in southern England and found Groot's watchalongs on YouTube in April 2023. He didn't know Groot before, but does now count Groot as a friend, of course, along with many of the other server members. The voting system used in the watchalongs up until 1979 had many issues; this led Darren to volunteer to develop a voting system for Grootyvision. It has since evolved into what you see today.

If you are a member of the Discord server, you don't need to pre-register, as you are automatically registered when you vote for the first time, and you vote by clicking a link posted there. However, if you can't join Discord, or if you want to join the jury shortlist, predict or more, we'd recommend you do register. It's very quick and easy to do; you'll see a screen like what is shown below. Use the pink box to register for the first time.

When you click on the voting link, you are asked to enter a "Voter ID". This is like a username. If you are a member of our Discord server, it helps if it is the same as, or similar, to your ID there; but also distinct enough that someone else wouldn't choose the same ID. You should then use the same Voter ID every time so all of your voting history is linked.

The "Voter Name" on the voting form is optional. You can fill it in if you want your votes to be shown with a different name from your Voter ID. You'll notice in the watchalong voting sequences, that many of the regular voters have a Voter Name that references one of the songs or artists in that show, but they still always use the same Voter ID each time.

You can use whichever flag you want. Most people prefer to use their own country's flag, some people change their flag if they're travelling, some people choose random flags!

Yes. We don't restrict in this manner! Most Eurovision fans are objective enough to vote for the songs they like, rather than the country they like. There are a few exceptions of course...

During the 1979 (Season 1) watchalong voting, an error meant that Finland was awarded -3 points by the Televote. That particular video clip became legendary, and at some point a "-3 points poll" was started for people to choose the song they liked the least. That poll is now incorporated into the main voting form, after you have submitted your main votes.

No. It's a separate poll to the main voting, and the result of it is announced separately in Discord only.

No. It's optional; normally about a quarter of voters choose not to (quite literally) be negative in choosing something they dislike. It's entirely up to you.

We recognise that people are sometimes not available, but at least want to have their say. So you can send your votes through on the day of a watchalong, from midnight CET until one hour before the watchalong starts. For this, you need to be registered on the website and logged in. When early voting is available, the voting link will be on the web site's home page.

The watchalongs occur during evenings in Europe, because Groot works during the daytime and sleeps at night! We recognise that this makes it difficult for those in Asia and Oceania in particular. Please do vote early as described in the point above, and then you can watch the watchalong afterwards on this website. As mentioned before, the more voters, the better, so please don't be shy about voting when not available.

If you vote early and then change your mind, or if you make a mistake when voting, just visit the voting link again and you'll find you can make changes. (This is a new feature!)

During every watchalong, voting is only open for a short time, sometimes as little as 15 minutes. Groot always mentions the time that voting closes (in Central European Time). If you try and vote after that time, you will get an error. The same also applies if you open the voting form before then but are too slow submitting your votes. So please, don't be late!

One of the mechanisms to prevent people voting multiple times is to prevent multiple votes from one IP address. All of the devices connected to your home Wi-Fi will have the same public IP address. Please send discodaz a message through Discord or this website in advance, as you can nominate a "buddy" who can vote from the same IP address as you.

Yes! All of the results are available by year, by country and by voter (excluding Season 1 1956-1991), along with medal tables, Top 100s and more. It's a stats nerd's paradise!

All of the voters in both the jury and televote are just viewers using the web form like you. We divide the voters up each time so some are in the "jury", and the rest are in the "televote", so that the sequence is similar to Eurovision. You can read more about the jury and the televote below.

Yes, that's correct; sorry. You do need to provide your Top 10 songs, so please just hold your nose and choose two more that you hate less!

Only the votes of those in the jury appear individually on screen. At least half of all voters don't have their votes on screen in each final watchalong, because they are part of the "televote". In addition, being eligible to appear as a juror is not automatic; you have to apply to be on the Jury Shortlist.

Your votes will only appear on screen if you are chosen to be a juror, and you will only be considered if you apply to join the jury shortlist. So you should still vote, knowing that your votes will affect the overall results, but they will not be shown on screen unless you want them to!

If you have voted in a previous watchalong, and you are using the same device that you used for voting, and you haven't cleared the cookies on that device, then this website should recognise who you are. You can then visit the members' area, where you should see something like this:

Follow the instructions; this will add you to the list automatically.
If you haven't voted before, or if you are using a different device, or if for some other reason your device isn't recognised, you will see this:

Enter your Voter ID in the appropriate section (or what you would choose for your Voter ID). If asked, please send a direct message to discodaz using Discord for validation. (If you are not on Discord, he will usually contact you through the website). Once you can access the members' area, you can then apply to be added to the jury shortlist as detailed above.

On average, those eligible to be in the jury appear every other time. Occasionally you will be a juror twice in a row; occasionally you will be in the televote twice in a row. Also, if you miss a watchalong, that may affect things. If you vote early, you will be in the Televote, and in calculating who will be in the jury the following time, voting early has the same effect as not voting at all.

That's not the case. If you amend or confirm your votes during the live voting period (after the songs are performed) then your early votes will be converted to live votes and you'll be eligible for the jury as usual. So please vote early, that's better than not voting at all.

As thanks for their efforts, the moderators (who moderate Discord, Twitch and YouTube) are always part of the jury when they vote live. That also includes Groot.

The selection of juries is now fully automatic. A score is calculated for all voters on the jury shortlist, based on how often they were jury, televote, or didn't vote live in each of the previous 8 finals. Those voters are then ranked in order, and the top 50%, or top 100 (whichever is fewer) are then selected.

We recognise that some people have favourite years where they want their votes on screen. We've heard of people considering not voting in the prior show in order to "engineer" their jury ranking. This is not necessary! We can make this happen for you; simply let discodaz know before the watchalong (preferably with as much notice as possible) and this can be organised. If you were not due to be a juror for that watchalong, it will most likely mean that you will be a televoter in the two shows that follow, because the ranking is calculated each time based on participation in the previous eight finals.

If you have been banned from our Discord server, we reserve the right to ban you from voting, predicting or even watching the live streams. You will not be able to get the voting links if you are banned from Discord.

Being disrespectful to others; swearing, political statements, attempting to access the website's admin functions, voting multiple times and spamming are just some of the reasons why people have been banned, so please be nice and play by the rules!

There is a fair amount of work to put on the watchalongs. Especially with watchalongs from 2004 onwards, we need to edit in songs based on our qualifiers, change song lists on screen, etc. In addition to that, Groot is a busy man; his teaching job keeps him busy and some evenings he simply doesn't have time to stream. Keep informed using this website, Discord and email so you don't miss a watchalong!

During these months, the majority of countries select their Eurovision entries via a National Final (and some semi-finals and heats). We spend this time watching and voting in those finals, so there is no time to fit in historic Eurovision watchalongs.

Groot decided not to do 2024; we assume you know about the controversies that occurred with certain countries that year. Groot said: "I don't feel comfortable returning to it at this time. I understand many will be disappointed but this is a choice I make with myself and my well-being in consideration. I'm not interested in opening a can of worms that will put me down mentally and I'd be grateful to everyone if they can respect my decision."

No! We will soon start "Season 2", so the next watchalong will be for 1956. The voting in the early Season 1 watchalongs had issues; we unveiled evidence of a few people voting multiple times to hype certain songs.
